Terms of Service
Last updated: August 21, 2026.
[COUNSEL REVIEW REQUIRED] This is a plain-language draft describing how the service actually operates during the pilot. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not a complete agreement. Items marked
[COUNSEL]need a decision. Do not remove this block without that review.
These terms apply to businesses that use NorthBell Switchboard (“the service”). By using the service you agree to them.
What the service does
Switchboard answers inbound phone calls to your business line. Depending on your configuration, it provides information you have supplied, quotes prices from the price list you set, takes booking requests, and records messages and callback requests, then makes them available to you in a dashboard and, where enabled, sends you notifications.
The service handles inbound voice calls only. It does not place outbound calls and does not send text messages or email to your customers.
Pilot status
The service is in a pilot period. That means:
- We do not offer an uptime or availability guarantee. We will tell you promptly about outages that affect your line.
- Features may change as we learn from live calls. Changes that affect what the receptionist says to your callers go through a draft you publish.
- You can stop using the service at any time by removing call forwarding from your number.
Your responsibilities
- The information the receptionist uses is yours. Prices, hours, service area, policies, and business facts come from what you enter. You are responsible for their accuracy, and for the commitments the receptionist makes based on them.
- Bookings are requests until you confirm them, unless you have asked us to enable automatic booking. In that case, confirmations the receptionist gives are binding on you.
- Call recording consent is your obligation. Depending on your state, recording a call may require
notice to, or consent from, the caller. The receptionist gives a spoken notice on every call; you are
responsible for confirming that it satisfies the law where you and your callers are located.
[COUNSEL]: allocate this responsibility explicitly. - Your account. Keep your login credentials secure and tell us if you believe they have been misused.
Fees
During the pilot, fees are agreed with you directly and invoiced. Published plans will be monthly, with a
number of call minutes included and a per-minute rate beyond that. [COUNSEL]: payment terms, late
payment, and suspension for non-payment.
Data
Our handling of your data and your callers’ data is described in our Privacy Policy. You retain your business records; we will provide an export on request.
Ending the service
You may stop at any time by un-forwarding your number. We may suspend the service for non-payment or for use that is unlawful or that endangers the platform. On termination we will make your records available for export for a reasonable period.
Liability
[COUNSEL]: limitation of liability, disclaimer of warranties, indemnity, governing law, and dispute
resolution all need drafting. In particular, decide how liability is allocated for a price the
receptionist quoted from a business’s own price list.
